Trust. It’s the most important thing for any healthy relationship. Dare I say, even more important than love.
Now of course, Love is bigger than relationships, bigger than anything in my opinion, but that’s a whole other blog post. When talking specifically about a relationship, if you can’t trust what the other party says or does, than nothing works and even love won’t last long.
So what does this have to do with fixing your tax problem?
Hiring someone to fix your IRS tax debt is engaging in a relationship. A relationship is always a two way street, and what you do is as, or even more important than what they do, that is, if you don’t like being a victim or victimized.
What you do is even more important than what they do?
Absolutely, in a relationship, you can only 100% control your own thoughts, words and actions. Thus if they don’t meet your standard in any way, like in any relationship, you have the choice to stay, make changes or leave. Well how do you know what their standard is? Like in any relationship, you must to talk to them, get clear about what they stand for and get an understanding about their process, their services and fees. If you don’t agree with their standard, well then you should leave. So how do you know if you are talking to someone you can truly trust?
LISTEN!
I know you’re not an expert in tax law. If you were you wouldn’t need to hire anyone. Well believe it or not, this can actually be a good thing, because focusing on the legal aspect first, is not the right way to find a good company. Why? Because almost all the firms out there love to lead with their experience and expertise – things like “Stop IRS Levies Now,” or “Find out How Much You Can Settle For,” and what we know is that most of them are trying to rip you off.
Now I’m not saying experience and expertise aren’t important. They are absolutely essential. But they should NOT be the first, or ONLY criteria in your search.
The more important criteria in your search should be to discover the way someone conducts them selves in a relationship.
To do this, you must at a minimum, carefully read how they phrase their blogs, letters, ads, or website. Or even better, talk with them, get their documents, and read to see if what they said matches up and if they “put it in writing” for you. This will go much further in showing you who they are, and how they will negotiate your case, assuming they are licensed professionals with several years of experience, specifically in tax resolution.
This is far more important than how many supposed people they’ve helped or how much money they’ve allegedly saved their clients or what the celebrity they’ve hired for their commercials say about them. So how can I tell how a tax firm will conduct them selves if I hire them?
LISTEN!
Anyone can tell you they care about you or want to help. The decision to put your future and hard earned money into someone else’s hands is a choice. Thus if you want the best people on your side, the one’s that actually think about your case when they don’t have too, to get the best result for you and your family, here are a few things that should absolutely be non-negotiable, like in any good relationship.
The first:
Do they follow through with their words and actions?
